It's with a heavy heart that I must inform you that this site, Guild Wars Guru, will be shutting down on July 1st and will remain in Archive Mode. Over the past 11 years, we've become, and continued to remain, the #1 fansite for Guild Wars, and it's all because to you guys. Without such a strong and passionate community, Guru would have never made it this far and so we thank you for that.
And while we will be saying good-bye to our home here, we will continue to host forums for the GW community over at our sister site, Guild Wars 2 Guru. In fact, you are more than welcome to head on over now and begin posting. If you have any threads you'd like to transfer over, now would be the time.
So once again thank you, and especially those that contributed their time and knowledge to make Guru the amazing place it was. We'll see you over at Guild Wars 2 Guru!
Hi. I'm just starting GW, and was wondering if anyone had any advice on a Me/N Energy denial/curses build.
Since I'm just starting, I'll need a PvE build initially (and it will probably drift a bit from its original intent, if the non-energy-using monsters I've fought so far are any indication) , but PVP advice is obviously very much desired.
At the moment, I use Curses for Soul Barbs, whereupon I stack on Phantasms, Empathy, Backfire and whatever hexes I have. I'm a bit worried about healing, because so far, the Mesmer heal is a bit lacking and I'll soon be running out of attribute points if I keep my Blood Magic up as well as Curses, so if you have better alternative, let's hear it!
(oh, and I have a fairly high ping to the USA, so interrupts are generally pointless)
Here is what my mes/nec runs... build off of that and I don't see a need to tell you how to use it cause it does just as you ask. Energy denial + cursing
Inspiration: 10+2
Fast Casting: 9+1
Domination: 7+1
Curses: 10
Energy Tap
Energy Drain
Ether Feast
Hex Breaker
Plague Touch
Shadow of Fear
Enfeebling Blood
Ressurection Signet/Rend Enchantments/Desecrate Enchantments
The last skill options all depend really on both your arena and your team. If it's random, then a res sig is almost default. If it's Team Arena, Rend is great since there aren't that many targets to worry about. Now 8v8 in HoH or GvG and the like, Desecrate turns into something of a SUPER spike if the enemy decides to run something like Aegis...
